America’s Young Adults Are Struggling to Launch
When the Higher Learning Authority polled students, teachers, parents, and employers about whether high school is preparing students for their future careers, they had a lot to say.
Of the more than 300 people surveyed, 80% of the respondents think high school is not doing enough to prepare students for future jobs. When you dig deeper, you’ll learn that 75% of schools are not teaching life skills due to budget issues, lack of facilities, or teacher shortages.
Another survey by the ManpowerGroup found that 54% of U.S. employers have difficulty finding skilled workers, which can lead to a significant loss in potential revenue due to unfilled positions, increased training costs, and reduced efficiencies.
The Economic Cost of the Life Skills Gap
The economic impact of young adults lacking proper life skills education is estimated to be $803.6 billion over the next 5 years and $1.6072 trillion over the next 10 years. This includes productivity losses, increased training costs, unemployment and underemployment, and personal financial instability.
SkillZilla Digs Into the Problem
SkillZilla is closing this gap through a gamified mobile app that teaches financial literacy, relationship skills, personal growth and wellness, and many more practical life skills that young adults need to succeed no matter what their dreams are.
