SkillZilla Gets You

Keeping your household running is no easy task. You’re busy with home, work, community, and a million other things. SkillZilla is here to help—consider us a member of your team.

Created By Real Parents for Real Young Adults

SkillZilla was created by Holly and Daniel O’Brien, parents of six teenage boys. That’s them in the picture.

The SkillZilla journey began in the hustle and bustle of their home, somewhere between laughter, sibling rivalries, and a never-ending pile of laundry.

Holly and Daniel realized that while they were busy working to make sure their boys had what they needed to live, they were missing some pretty big skills that would help them prepare for the future. Skills like financial literacy, relationship and communication know-how, personal growth and wellness plans, and so much more.

What started as an idea to help their sons soon took on a roar as friends, families and community members heard the idea to deliver life skills education to young adults through in a gamified mobile app. And SkillZilla was born.

We Teach America's Young Adults the Skills They Need To:

Grow Confidence
Develop Financial Literacy
Build Resiliency
Dream Big
Take Healthy Risks
Maintain Good Relationships
Make Good Choices
Become Independent Adults

Parents and Caregivers? You’re On Deck. Bullies? See Yourself Out.

At SkillZilla, safety and respect are our top priorities in fostering a positive learning environment.

We’re firmly anti-bullying because our young people can’t learn when they’re afraid or stressed.

Some of the things we’ve done to protect our learners include:

  • Limiting usernames to made up names instead of real names to protect identities.
  • Uploading or downloading content is not allowed at this time.
  • Currently, learners will be assigned a random avatar graphic; future releases will allow avatars that pass safety guidelines and are age-appropriate.
  • Future releases include caregiver communications on lesson status and real-world activities.
  • Parents/caregivers are included in the development and management of our app.

We’ve got big plans for the future. Check out our roadmap or contact us with questions.
